Signs and symptoms to look out for during third trimester-
Now pregnant mother has crossed many of the major hurdles to reach this level. This great news! Now get ready for some new challenges. No worries, every pregnant lady experience if not all, most of these changes and symptoms.
Tiredness – Because of her growing size, she will have less peaceful sleep. Leg cramps, heartburn, snoring, nasal congestion, frequent urination will make a peaceful, long sleep almost impossible. Good and regular sleeping habits are very critical. Lying on side with knees bent is likely to be the most comfortable position. Some doctors recommend that pregnant women sleep on the left side. Sleeping on the left side helps to position the uterus away from liver and also improves circulation to the heart and allows for the best blood flow to the fetus, uterus, and kidneys. “Pregnancy pillows” are available for increased comfort.
Other symptoms – Varicose veins (swollen bluish veins), haemorrhoids (itching sensation in rectum during passing stool), tingling and numbness in hands and legs, abdominal pain, swelling and soreness in breast, etc are all very common.
WATCH OUT 3 things to monitor closely – WEIGHT, BLOOD PRESSURE, GLUCOSE LEVEL
While an overall weight gain of 25 pounds over the period pregnancy is generally acceptable, excessive weight gain can lead to severe complications both during and post pregnancy. Monitor weight gain closely, abnormal increase in size or weight (2-3 pounds in few days) is an early warning for a possible condition called pre-eclampsia. Contact your doctor immediately!!!!! Monitor blood pressure regularly and contact the doctor if you notice the blood pressure spikes and stays high. Many pregnant women are likely to experience gestational diabetes. Don’t disregard this condition. Consult your doctor, adjust your diet, and start a low dose diabetes medication. High levels of sugar over a sustained period of time during pregnancy is harmful to both the child and the mother.
Signs and symptoms that delivery date is nearing –
